ABOUT
John Tsiavis is an Australian photographer and director working across advertising, television and brand-led content, alongside a practice in entertainment, portraiture and fashion photography.
His work combines cinematic storytelling with a strong photographic discipline, creating imagery that is character-driven, visually refined and designed to perform across campaign, publicity and editorial platforms.
John was shortlisted as Emerging Director at the 2023 AWARD Awards and is the recipient of Best Short Director and Best Australian Documentary at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival (2022). His documentary series A Quiet Roar has screened internationally, including official selections at the Toronto Short Film Festival, New York Indie Shorts Awards and St Kilda Film Festival.
Commercial clients include Nintendo, Toyota, Disney, HBO, A24, Crown, NBC, Nickelodeon, Foxtel/Binge, Nine Network, MTV, CBC and Paramount+. His photography has been published in Esquire, Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, GQ and Flaunt.
Alongside his commercial work, John is a mentor with the Image Makers Association and maintains an ongoing portrait practice recognised by the National Photographic Portrait Prize and Head On Photo Festival.
He is based in Australia and works internationally.
